Chief of General Staff of Russia ordered to ensure maximum readiness for strategic exercises "Kavkaz-2020"

Moscow. August 20. Interfax - Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov is discussing preparations for the Kavkaz-2020 strategic command-and-staff exercises during a working trip to the troops of the Southern Military District, the Russian Defense Ministry reports.

"Today we will hear reports on the progress of the second stage of special exercises and during the work at the training grounds we will assess the practical actions of troops and forces," the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry quotes Gerasimov.

According to the Chief of the General Staff, "the result of the complex of special exercises should be the creation of conditions for the unconditional fulfillment of combat training tasks by the troops and the successful conduct of the Kavkaz-2020 command and control command," Interfax said on Thursday.

According to the Russian military department, "since August 10, special exercises on the types of support for the RF Armed Forces have been continuing on the territory of the Southern Military District."

"Last week, as part of the first stage, nine exercises were completed. During them, a command and control system for the troops and forces of the district was deployed," the military department informs.
